Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
