A person who spiked sweets with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said Ruben proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member contacted the authorities again.
She said Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five children.
