Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a aggregate 51 million spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason performance after the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
